For all of you that purchased blank skateboard decks to paint for the Duxbury Art Associations Skateboard Art Challenge, submissions are due by Friday, August 13th by 4:30 pm. Boards can be dropped off at the DAA: 64 Saint George St. in Duxbury. If you don’t have a deck to submit but you want to check out what everyone else did, come to the gallery opening. The gallery opening is on Thursday, August 19th from 6-8pm at the Duxbury Art Association. All of the skateboard art will be displayed in the gallery, vendors will be outside (Luminate included), snacks and give-aways. Should be a fun event, we hope to see you all there. For more information visit the Duxbury Art Association’s website.

New graphic I just finished for Luminate. Putting together a new group of designs for a line of eco tee-shirts. I thought it would be fun to do a design inspired by water, wind, earth etc. So this is the first. Hope you enjoy.
Decided to take a little weekend vacation to Vermont this weekend for the Vermont Festival of the Arts. It turned out to be such a beautiful and relaxing weekend. We went to a gallery show at the American Flatbread Barn, hiked, went blueberry picking at Knoll Farm, went swimming at Warren Falls, what a perfect VT day.

I love my sketch books. Big ones, baby ones, gridded ones… any kind really. I think as an artist… even more so as a graphic designer, it becomes an obsession to document your creative process. An artists sketch book is a window into their secret world. A glimpse of the way he or she sees the world. Sketch books are very special little things.
That being said… I came across an ad for The Sketchbook Project. Very cool, out of Brooklyn, NY, they send you a sketchbook, you pick a theme, fill it up, send it back and they put it in their library. I just signed up… but what would be really cool is to go check out all of the sketchbooks in BKLYN. Might have to plan a little trip.

Here is a fun poster I just finished for Luminate Surf & Skate’s Annual King of the Park skateboard contest. It’s August 21st a couple days after the Skateboard Art Challenge. Checckkkk it out. xo
Seriously… I had no idea that a photo booth and some felt mustaches could make me laugh so hard. I thought it would be fun to make a photo booth for the 93rd Annual Midsummer Art Show to raise money for the Duxbury Art Association and it’s turned out to be quite a hit. The best part is that the party is tonight…. so these are just test shots. Are we having too much fun on the job? Nahhh…
I have been going back and forth on this decision for sometime now. I borrowed my friend Lou’s Diana camera when I went Hawaii and fell in love with it. The vintage quality of the exposures as well as the camera itself is unmatched by todays high-res digital world. BUT- Fuji just came out with a new instant polaroid camera that I can’t stop thinking about. Clearly the solution to this problem is to just buy both of them… right?
The Bob Pollard Memorial is an afternoon surf contest, costume party, and family barbecue to benefit the young children Levitate Surf & Skate’s founder Bob Pollard, who passed away in July of 2006. This year we’ll be starting at noon and then having the awards, campfire, and music hosted right on the beach as the sun goes down. Signups are a $25 donation and include a contest tee shirt and food. Visit the Luminate Surf & Skate website for more information.

Just finished up this cupcake logo for Emma Boothroyd. She starting making cupcakes out of her families restaurant Hola. Being a Hola regular I got to talking with Emma about her little business and ordered a dozen of her strawberry cream cheese cupcakes for my birthday. I wasn’t expecting much when I ordered them… but when I ate them oh my goodness. These are literally the most unreal cupcakes on this earth. They are totally delicious! So she asked me to design a logo, I obviously requested to be paid in cupcakes, and here we are: Sugarcoated- Cupcakes by Emma!
